The projects they work on vary in size, budget and complexity, ranging from multi-million pound projects to smaller, more specialist installations, but they take pride in the consistent level of quality and standards of workmanship they uphold.
The challenge
In 2020, AF Connell won a substantial contract for the development of a large block of student apartments in Sheffield, valued at £6 million.
“When it came to subcontracting the work, we were looking for the right people for the job, who could complete the work to a high standard and for the right price,” explains Nick Thornton, Director at AF Connell. “We’ve enjoyed a good working relationship with the team at Citi Group since 2018, and we knew we could trust them for this project. We decided to bring them on board to complete all of the electrical work required for the student apartments, and some of their engineers were also contracted to work alongside our own team to develop the communal spaces.”
The solution
“Nick and the team jumped straight in and were involved in all aspects of the job. Nick himself spent a lot of time on site carrying out project management duties, and we were all very thankful to have him there. The result
“This was a 12-month project that had to be completed in time for the new intake of students that were due to arrive in September 2021. Citi Group completed the work on time, on budget, and to a high standard. Nick and the team provided a consistently professional service, and we know them as a team we can rely on.
